You Looked Like We Were Falling for Each Other — Using Me and Throwing Me Away Is Pretty Cruel, Don't You Think?

両想いみたいな顔してたのに、ヤリ捨てするのは酷いよね? [こんぺいとう中毒] （Unofficial title translation）

The performer's verbal backchanneling — the small acknowledgement sounds during conversation — is repeatedly singled out by reviewers as unusually expressive, with more than one saying those small reactions alone carry real emotional nuance. The extended miscommunication arc in the middle is called out specifically as unusually long and well-developed for the genre, with reviewers praising how much weight is given to both characters' side of the misunderstanding rather than resolving it quickly.

What reviewers loved

The extended miscommunication arc in the middle is called out specifically as unusually long and well-developed for the genre, with reviewers praising how much weight is given to both characters' side of the misunderstanding rather than resolving it quickly.
The two main intimate scenes are repeatedly noted as deliberately different in tone — an excited, first-time energy early on versus a more grounded reconciliation scene later — with reviewers appreciating that neither repeats the same beats.
The natural pacing of the dialogue, including full-length pauses, is credited across multiple reviews with making the conversations feel like real-time back-and-forth rather than scripted lines.

Good to know before buying

One reviewer notes, as a minor aside rather than a complaint, that the story never explicitly explains what first drew the male lead to the heroine.

Reviewers keep circling back to the vocal performance's small conversational details — especially its backchanneling sounds — as what sells this piece's extended, deliberately drawn-out miscommunication arc. It's framed as a slow-burn built on realistic-feeling dialogue rather than fast pacing, with two distinct intimate scenes praised for having different emotional textures instead of repeating each other.
